 Hello everyone
wondered if you good people could advise me on any concertos for clarinet and string orchestra. The concert has a Thanksgiving theme and the Copland isn't really an option cause they don't use a conductor and finances won't allow for the two extra players.
The concerto will go alongside a premier that i've been asked to play also.
The ensemble is professional so anything really goes.
Many thanks

sounds interesting, but the group are strings only. Do you know the publisher, as it's always good to add stuff to the solo repertoire.

It's not for full orchestra but may I suggest the Clarinet Quintet by Vermont composer Erik Nielsen. I attended a performance of this piece a while back & was stunned by the quality of the composition. It's a beautiful piece that would appear to be a very difficult piece to perform. It was commissioned by the National Symphony Orchestra and had it's premiere in 2004 at the Kennedy Center.

Concerto for Clarinet and String Orchestra - Allan Blank

May be available from ACA. If not, then from the composer. Recording on MMC 2057.
