 will they exchange for me?

I bought a brand new buffet r13 from an authorized dealer. My bell tenon ring is just slipping off andI have surface cracks on my barrel. I don't know what to call it but it isn't a crack that's goes all the way through but is just on the surface. Do you guys think they should exchange it for me?

They should tighten the ring. If there's just surface checking on the barrel I doubt they'll exchange it ... but it doesn't hurt to ask.

You might get a barrel that plays worse than the one you have, though ...

the clarinet doesn't play well at all anyways. My yamaha 650 sounds much better. Maybe I just got a bad pick.

Edit: BTW it didn't even come with a warranty card.

Are you humidifying the Clarinet properly? (if it's dry, cold in your area)

I have a plastic bag with a wet sponge in it. But the thing is, the store sent it to me through ups and and they left it in front of my door. Who leaves a $3000 instrument in front of your door?

I think what you have on the barrel is just the texture of the wood (at least from yoru description). But, most cracks will start from the outside and rarely will go all the way through so maybe it is the start of a crack (I've had a total of five cracks so far and none ever got all the way through the wood).

I'm not sure I understand why you bought this clarinet....

Maybe you could take a picture of this supposed crack?

UPS does. Unless the shipper values it at $5000+ dollars (pays for that much in insurance) or the box or label clearly says "Signature Required" somewhere on it. In that case, they get a signature.

Otherwise, in order to make plan, and make sure to deliver ALL the packages they can in order to lesson the amount of packages they have to RE-deliver tomorrow, they're going to leave it by the front door/garage/back door/porch/etc.

Alexi <- UPS worker.

PS - FYI, for anyone that has clarinet stuff coming in the mail they DON'T want to have left at the front door to your house, here are some options (for UPS, anyway) . . .

A) Have it delivered to a local UPS store and arrange with the owner that you will pick it up from there after it's been delivered.

B) Have the shipper write "Signature Required" on the box by the shipping label.

C) Call 1-800-PICK-UPS and follow instructions to have it held at your local sort hub where you can pick it up.

D) Leave a note taped to your door for the driver with any specific instructions (helpful if you go on vacation and didn't let him/her know ahead of time!)

Disclaimer - I work for "brown". This is what I can do for you. (hehehe)

I bought this clarinet because he is a guy that I have been doing business with for years. I bought all my instruments from him and he has great service. I didn't get a chance to play it because his shop is all the way in los angeles while I am currently living in Arizona. He also said he would exchange it for me...I told you his service was good!!:)
