Hi
Some of my friends plus other people have a group called Marsh Dondurma. Marsh is obvious, and Dondurma means icecream in Turkish if I'm not mistaken. It is one of the few if not the only music group of its kind in my country. They are about 15 people, including music students, gradutes, and some not professionals musicians (for example a baker, a biology teacher, science student, etc).
the idea is basically the same as a marching band, and they travel and play in the streets and in festivals. They play mostly folk music from many different places like Europe, USA, South America, and also original music composed by members of the group.
I'll be happy to hear what you think.

I agree wholeheartedly with Bob - definitely fun. I've only watched the St James video clip and I'll check out your other suggestions, but I'm hooked already. Can I come and join you? Where are you, in Tel Aviv?

I think it's awesome. Sounds like it's probably a blast for people to watch and listen, probably even more fun to play, and it sounds like a great time!

There are some great photos, too, on the Marsh Dondurma site - it's nice to add the visual aspect to that exciting playing. It looks like the band might be based in Jerusalem (would that be correct, Clarnibass?). I couldn't spot a clarinet anywhere, though........perhaps it's a little cheeky to have the band appear here, but I'm glad they did.
