Hello all, just wondering, besides silver and nickel finishes that we frequently see on metal clarinets-I am mainly familiar with the Leblanc metal contras-are there other finishes being applied to metal clarinets? i.e. a la saxophone's bare brass, various lacquer finishes, etc.?
If not, then why not?

I've only seen a gold plated Selmer advertised on an auction site I won't name on here that's a change from the norm - silver.
The only lacquered brass bodied woodwind instruments besides saxes I've seen are Yamaha alto and bass flutes (and a special edition YFL 411 C-flute yesterday) - all are with a lacquered brass head (with silver lip plate and chimney), body and foot with nickel silver rings and silver plated keywork. Kinda looked a bit like a gold-bodied Miyazawa I once tried at an exhibition.
Do you prefer the satin silver finish of Conn metal clarinets (and others), or the flat silver or nickel finish on Leblanc/Noblets?

The opinions I express are my own.

The Leblanc "Big Easy" clarinets (think "Pete Fountain") have gold-plating.
