Hello,
There has not been an official announcement made yet, but there will be a clarinet opening at the US Naval Academy Band in a few months. This will be a section position, rotating between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd part from concert to concert. The person leaving will leave in early to mid December, and as I understand Navy policy, an announcement cannot be officially made until the person actually gets out of the Navy.
I'm the e-flat clarinetist for this band and must say that it is a great job. The pay is excellent, the musicians are top-notch, the location is simply the best--near D.C. and Baltimore and in beatiful Annapolis, MD, and I enjoy the job a great deal.
I'll be glad to answer any questions anyone may have, but check the band's website for an official announcement in December sometime www.usna.edu/USNABand.
When the audition rolls around, my house is available (until it fills up) for people to crash to save a hotel bill.
