I am looking for sources for new (or almost new) cases for Full Boehm Bb clarinets. I have a couple of FB Bb Selmer Mazzeos that could use more sturdy and functional cases but I have been unable to locate suitable cases because of the extra length of the FB clarinet. If I cannot find a source for these, I would consider putting these in regular A clarinet cases with some foam pads, but I am also having some difficulty finding a source of single (as opposed to the standard double) cases for A clarinets.

Suggestions would be appreciated. I know that Wiseman can do a custom case for anything, but these are a fairly pricey for my purposes.

Check with European retailers, the Full Boehm clarinet is more common over here than in the states, especially in the Netherlands as I understand.

Amati makes full Boehm clarinets. You might check to see if it is possible to purchase a case only.

George - I have several cases of "brief-case" character, bot at estate sales, a couple having "trays" for one 17/6 cl and plentiful open space for A and FB sized cls. I use pieces of polyurethane foam to prevent "carrying damage" of my best horns. Inexpensive !! Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

I bought and converted a Yamaha pro series double case for my set of Series 9 full Boehms, the polystyrene tray pulled out easily and making the cut away for the extra length wasn't a problem on the A side, but the Bb side took a bit more doing.

One of the barrel holders was sacrificed for the longer bottom joint, and they'd cut the fabric to make the barrel hole, but it does hold them nice and doesn't look too bad a job. But there was originally room for four barrels, now only three remain so I turned up a greasepot in grenadilla to fit the remaining hole by the Bb lower joint, and there's still space for two barrels.
