On the "online auction site that shall not be mentioned" I have seen an item call the Orchestral CD Rom Library. For clarinet there are 5 or 6 volumes containing parts to the orchestral literature. Most of it is standard stuff you can get through Kalmus...but cheap, $20 for a CD of 75 parts for example. Figuring the cost of ink and paper it still seems like a deal, but what looks too good to be true usually is, so...
Does anyone here own this...and are there major errors in the parts?

I own volumes 1 thru 3 of the series. I have not used it extensively nor have I done much extensive orchestral playing. The parts appear to be PDF copies of printed parts. They are formatted to be printed on regular 8.5 x 11 paper (though, they could be enlarged to 9 x 12 or any other size if you use a copier.)
I do not know if there are any errors per se, but I can say this much about using the parts in a real live group. Be ready to do some work. For example, I used the 1st clarinet part to play in a local college orchestra that was performing Shubert No. 9. Suffice to say once I printed to part, little doubt was left as to why this piece is dubbed "The Great". Twenty or so pages of music were spit out of my printer. Then, I had to take the music into work and photocopy and enlarge it. Once that was done, I had to bind it. Then when I sat down in rehearsal the conductor (an aging, exceedingly inept, and needlessly nasty conductor mind you) who starts calling out measure numbers which are not printed on the part. So, in order to prepare better for the next rehearsal in addition to practicing, I also wrote in measure numbers, for the whole piece. I did however, take a moment to look over the part that the conductor had as part of his set and it appeared to be the same thing. The look, font, lay out and engraving all seemed to be the same. The CD-ROM library made some good choices like having a the original part in C and a transposed part in Bb for the Shubert.
I happen to really like the seriece since it gives me a whole lot of orchestral clarinet music to play (all parts, including Bass and Eb clarinet) for not a lot of money. Buyer beware of using it in the real world though...
Oh yeah...and beware aging, inept, needlessly nasty conductors too!

It would seem more worthwhile to get the major repertoire into software (Sibelius or Finale), then print out the parts as needed in whatever transpositions and clefs each player prefers.
Is there any project, commercial or otherwise, to do this?

I can imagine what a nightmare using a blank part can be in rehearsal...
My main concern was how the parts looked, major errors...etc. Sounds like a decent deal if used for practice purposes...

Here's a thread I started awhile ago about these cds. I have enjoyed using them for study and for looking ahead when we are going to be playing a piece in orchestra that is on the CDs but I don't have the printed part yet. They do print out nicely, and my understanding is that any errors are errors present in the edition that was scanned for the CD.

I have the first 4 volumes and no. 5 is on the way. As others have mentioned, they are scans of original editions in .pdf form. I have already used them to prepare in advance for several works I have performed with orchestras. They have also come in handy to determine exact instrument/section requirements before the rental parts arrived. They have all the clarinet parts for each work, including bass and Eb. The print is a little small (I wish they would use smaller margins) but functional. If you print one-sided, you can "slide" pages (which I have found useful in mitigating bad page turns). Or, as long as you stay with 8 1/2 x 11 printouts, you can use a 3-ring binder with glassine page-holders available at office supply stores to arrange pages back-to-back. I think these CDs are a tremendous value for anyone who has a use for them.

The CD-ROMs are a tremendous value for the price. As others have said, they are invaluable for preparing orchestral pieces in advance. The music is an actual scan of the original parts.
For those who are preparing orchestral excerpts, it is very beneficial to have the COMPLETE part to each work, as there are often very tricky tutti passages which do not apperar in the various excerpt books...GBK

I've got vols 1-4 and like others, I use them for rehearsal for future concerts, where the parts have not yet arrived.
As GBK says, when the CC Rom library says "clarinet parts" for any specific orchestral work, this means Eb, bass, clar 1, clar 2 in fact all clarinet parts for the piece. Also they often include transpositions for Bb when orig in A . You, of course can specify which parts to print.
They are a great boon to the orchestral clarinettist.
One very minor drawback is that they are designed to be printed on A4 paper, thereby rendering the scores a little smaller than usual orch scores. I don't find this a problem for rehearsal purposes.
