Just heard a recent recital on Belgian radio of Walter Boekens and was amazed at his beauty of sound and crystal pure tone. The music was pretty tough stuff.

Brahms Sonata in Eb
Bartok Contrasts
Alban Berg 4 Pieces
and as encore the solo movement from Quator pour le Fin de Temps of Messiaen.

This is an incredible player!

 David,

I am a great fan of Walter and have a few CDs of him (Weber Chamber music, Beethoven Trio & Septuor, Schubert Octet, etc., all of them Harmonia Mundi CDs). He's definitely a great clarinetist, among my favourite.

Stéphane.

After you've heard a work by Mozart, the silence that follows, this is still by Mozart.

His sound seems very different from American, English, or French.
Frankly not my favorite.

 Dear Hiroshi
Could you elaborate on how you feel the sound is different ? Why and why not is it your favorite?
