SOLD
I am selling this Selmer model 32 low Eb grenadilla bass clarinet, serial number Y3180, which puts it at 1974. $2900. It's a special instrument that I bought about 10 years ago from Tom LeGrand, currently of the Houston Symphony. He played it for many years while in the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops Orchestras. Over the years it's been adjusted and voiced by legends Moennig, Jacobi, Clark, and more recently Morrie Backun in 2019, $1000 worth of adjustments. After that work, Morrie thought very highly of it and formally gave me an insurance replacement appraisal of $9000. (Seems way too high?).
The instrument remains in great playing condition, it is an easy blow, really sings, and the lowest notes boom, just a real pleasure to play. I am selling it as I just acquired a low C bass.
In the Reverb site linked below there are plenty of pictures, including the Hercules stand and a Ridenour mpc that I can include at no added charge. I will also cover shipping in the US. Also there is the appraisal doc from Backun, and Tom LeGrand's letter he sent along with the instrument when I bought it..........he has given me permission to include it now. A link to Tom playing the "On the Trail" solo from Grofe's Grand Canyon Suite is also there.
The price of $2900 is firm, particularly as I've decided to cover shipping, and have included the stand and mpc.
