This has been the work horse of my horns since I bought it in 1980, when I was still principally a bari sax player. I have had no calls for it in the last few years, other than an extended run of West Side Story 3 years ago and a 3 week ballet contract last December,

Given the virus, we may not have any more shows for the foreseeable future. If I need a bass, I can always rent one, and I don’t see that need soon if ever. I’m slowly selling off instruments like my backup clarinets and flutes.
Horn is in excellent condition; fully overhauled 2 years ago. New pads, corks and adjustment (repairman had lost bridge key between the A and octave keys, fashioning another out of old clarinet parts…then found it, but I liked the “custom” job: original piece is in the case if purchaser prefers it). Some tarnish on keys and a scratch here or there on the bell, but in excellent condition for any horn, including one that’s 50 years ago. Includes two floor pegs. Does not include mouthpiece, reeds or strap.

I’ll also sell the stand for an extra $40.

Comes with newish BAM backpacking case, the original case got kind of beatup over the years. BAM case has should and backpack straps plus a rain cover.
The Series 9 Low C basses were special orders: excellent wood grain and because they were special order, had that much extra attention and care in manufacture.
A great bass: creamy sound, very well in tune with excellent keywork (I’m partial to Selmer basses, personally).
Offered at $5,000 and I’ll consider lower prices, but this is not a student horn and I’m in no rush.

Shipping and insurance extra.

HI again, SFCA...we've talked before...

I'm sorry you've been hit hard by the virus as we all have in music and in life. Fortunately I have my disability pension for the rest of my life and a little studio to live in. I just picked up a Chinese rent-to-own student bass from IQ in Philly. It will suffice when I'm in the mood to jam to Bitches Brew or my own compositions that I will post on youtube.

I wish you well. What a great horn that must be...I had a 33 Selmer back in the day when I played in Rome. If I come across someone looking for a low C Selmer 9 I will let you know.

Take care,
Barney north of Los Angeles CA

Are the keys silver or nickel?
