Nielsen quoted Copland as saying "I always felt that there was enough room for interpretation even when everything is written out." My point exactly. Thank you for reminding us that just because a composer writes something on paper that they don't necessarily expect, or even want, everyone to play it exactly the same way so there's no difference between players.
