 RE: Come home?

Yes, Bob pretty much said it... I have been rather busy with my studies, and until now, I have pretty much stood back and watched. I still check by at about once a day and read all of the articles. There have been a couple of times when I've started to write a couple replies, but never finished before I had to head to my next class, and then it never got finished. I hate to neglect this bulletin board and the main board, but my studies had to come first. (Don't feel too left out and neglected, TV got completely booted out of the picture LONG ago. At one time I used to watch TV every day, now, maybe once a month.) At first, I started posting less on the main BB, but still tried to keep up with this BB. Still, I have made it a point to check in on this BB about once a day, if nothing else, to know what is going on, and to moderate if need be. Now that spring break has come today, I do have a chance to "stir the pot" a little bit. I am not the only one who is allowed to stir the pot, others can help stir as well. :-) Still, I have had a couple things mind to get this bulletin board to a larger audience. Something that must also be considered, is that this bulletin board has only reached an audience of regular users on Sneezy, and only those that are interested in klezmer. This means little or no non-clarinetist audience... I am going to help get the word out, so that more people interested know about this bulletin board. For example, I have asked permission to, and will likely make a posting on a rather large jewish music mailing list of which I am a subscriber to. There are a lot of good folks on there, and with much interesting conversation. Also, there are people a lot more knowledgeable than I am on a lot of topics that have been discussed here. I also feel that the more different people we get to use this BB, the better - people with different knowledge, ideas, opinion, who play different instrument, etc., are what make a BB run. My goal is for this to be a place to communicate, share, and learn. Yes, I have noticed that this bulletin board has been less than frantic and busy. When you consider the number of clarinetist compared to klezmer musicians, it may not ever become as busy as what the main clarinet board is today. Still, this BB is not as active as I would like, and there is not the variety of people as is on the main board. I am also going to make it a point to put more effort into keeping things going. Although things may not be as active as the main clarinet board, the board is still not dead. Also, the idea of moving this board "back" to the main clarinet board would have a couple of problems. First, this board never was really part of the main clarinet board. Klezmer topics came up now and then, but not often. Second, the main clarinet board is restricted to clarinet topics only. The Klezmorim Forum is open to all topics pertaining to Jewish music. Also, I very much would like suggestions to get things going a little bit better. Feel free to email me, or put suggestions down as posts on this BB. I will look into any suggestions, and fairly consider them. The one that I will not consider is the suggestion that I give up on this bulletin board. I won't do that without a long and hard fight. :-) You will also have to forgive the slow speed at which I post and reply to email. I tend to like to choose my words carefully, and will often put off posting until I have the time to do so. For example, I even proof-read each post before I hit the button. Pretty pathetic, no? The way I look at it though, I may as well choose my words well, as once it has been said, there is no going back. I guess that's the way I am. -- Nate Zeien

PS - Yes, you guessed it, I'm back! :-)
