Hi Mike,

One of my favorite Doynes ( Doynote?) in done by Ilene Stahl of KCB. It's track 4 of their 'Dancing in the Aisles' album. Doina or Doyna are a lot of fun to do both for the soloist and for the drone. There is a emotional suspension as the music sort of sits and swirls before the piece linked to the Doyna kicks in.
We have one pluged into the front end of a Khusidl. I used Doina #1 from Stacy Phillips' Klezmer Collection in Bb published by Mel Bay. It was orginally a cornet solo, It works very well on clarinet.

Have fun and Happy New Year!

Alex
