I discovered Nano Peylet, a fine klezmer clarinetist in a French film called Cours Toujours (Dad on the Run). The film is quite good, but the music is terrific.
A search on this board produced no information, but Google revealed an extensive discography for Peylet.
Anyone familiar with this fine artist?

it's a classically formed player who plays with a group called Bratsch
http://www.bratsch.com ( their best cd is probably the one from the movie
le mangeur de la lune - the eater of the moon ) Lots of energy in all of their cd's , but the live cd's are not too well recorded - have a few of them .
want free sheet music :

also went to a concert of the group last week in brussels
A mix of slavian, greek, and manouce playing .
I expexted some improvisation , but the on first hearing improvised parts
are exactly the same on cd as on stage ( also the parts that sound a bit chaotic and not to clean)
Best Regards

He also put out at least two CDs with his klezmer duo, Peylet/Cuniot.
I met him some years ago in Antwerp, we played at the same festival. Besides from being the clarinetist he is, he is a very nice guy and wonderful colleague.
'A bit chaotic and not too clean' is typically Bratsch style, it's their sound.

christian,
are you from Europe ??
I'm an experienced folk clarinet player and looking for people that can teach me something or people to work with on music in the klezmer/bratsch/greek/slavian/arabian genre.
( experience in folk and jazz )
By the way , i like the bratsch sound / was only amazed that their live recorded cd's had exactly( nearly of course ) the same solo's as the ones i heard live in brussels. You would expext some changes , certainly when violin and clarinet also play on the jazz scene. Their album for the movie ( le mangeur de la lune ) was , for what i heard of it , a lot cleaner and , as a result , a better cd to play and listen to for the normal music consumer then their live cd's .
Of course , as a musician, i listen to all of them
