I have a 1975 Buffet R13 B-flat. I am considering purchasing a new R13. Any opinions on quality of the older vs newer R13s? Has anyone played the Prestige or Elite line? What did you think? What is Grenadilla wood? Can anyone recommend a new Buffet dealer in or around NYC?

Alan,
There is heaps of information on the clarinet board. I suggest you pose this question there and you will get a lot of responses.
Good luck!

I have an R-13 Bflat and A from 1964. In 2001 I purchased a new R13 B flat. For me finding a new clarinet after almost 40 years was like finding a new spouse, but the new one is much better than the older one. The intonation is much more consistent. I tried a Prestige and an Elite but settled for an R-13 with silver keys because it played better than the others. They really feel very nice. In the NYC area you can try Fred Weiner. Great prices and friendly service. The web site is www. weinermusic.com
I bought mine from Vince Marinelli in Wilmington, DE. He always has a good selection and there is no tax.
