If you will be anywhere near the Chicago area this
Friday, please drop by (folks are "dropping by"
from California, Texas, Atlanta, and points near
and far) to hear the one and only Ivo Papazov,
Rom clarinet virtuso extraordinaire from Bulgaria,
in his one and only concert in North America.
The main Bulgarian language newspaper in Chicago has a
large article in the current edition whose headline
reads (translated) "King of Bulgarian Clarinet in
Chicago" - that sums it up pretty well. Don't miss
it!

I just got back home from Chicago...
THE CONCERT WAS TRULY AMAZING!!!!
And the following dance party ruled!
I got to meet Ivo and like any good groupie I got an autograph...lol!! And pictures with him and his phone number in Bulgaria and I met lots of other cool Bulgarian musicians.
What amazed me the most about his playing was how simple he made things I KNOW to be difficult seem. THAT is the mark of a true genius of any instrument.
I really think, after having heard many many clarinetists live and on recordings that Ivo is THE best clarinetist in the world....
Just my ever-so-humble opinion...lol

LOL Ralph! I had several non-clarinetists tell me they never knew a clarinet could sound like that. I told them I knew it could, and I knew how difficult it is to make those "noises" intentionally!
