Can anyone tell me *what* is high pitch? I.e. what was the tuning reference, as opposed to 440Hz for low pitch?

I have a 1904 Buffet Albert system in lovely shape, but missing a barrel & bell, and I want to figure out what pitch to aim for when replacing those parts.
