And now for a "Debbie Downer" moment.

A friend of mine used to decorate cookies with those little silver balls (sold in the cooking sections of you local stores) and liked the crunchiness of them too. But if you read the package they come in it clearly states that they are NOT edible since they actual contain a percentage of metal.

One Christmas, our piccolo player made a sugar cookie of each member of our band. It was a huge treat. Most folks ate theirs. I coated mine with shellac and each Christmas, it hangs from my Christmas tree. She never gave a repeat performance!

Wow - impressive job of cookie-decorating! Hmm, I wonder whether the kids at Hogwarts could organize a performance-enhancing spell around ritual consumption of cookies in the shapes of musical instruments? (Or maybe experiments along those lines led to the exploding tuba incident.) But, like Paul Aviles, I'd be a tad uneasy about eating the clarinets with all those metallic keys. An alternative might be to use a small amount of black licquorice to color white frosting a pale shade of gray. Wouldn't look nearly as cool as bright silver, but it'd give the general idea without setting off the airport detectors.

I remember trying some mind-expanding cookies once when I was slightly sillier than I am now. Didn't make me play any better, but it didn't seem so important at the time.
