G'day Bob

Hey - tell me, what's the "extra" little key thingy used by the right hand pointer finger? aren't there normally four of these? I'm just puzzled and ignorant, obviously.

When I saw "inflated alto," I was thinking it was something I could take with me into the swimming pool. Even that ain't worth $5500, though.

The seller is assuming we're all "brain dead."

Does anyone know anything about a seller "willyfingers" who is running a bunch of stuff right now, including a new Selmer Signature item #1519631661? He has no feedback or photos and obviously copies his ads right off the website (not that that's a huge crime).

TKS for the laughs, Bob and Brenda. Its always interesting to read alto cl listings, there is so little knowledge [exhibited] out there in auction land. Perhaps the music store said $550 [for a used horn?], and said a brand new Selmer-Paris alto [list] price was $5500 ? There are several good buys for use [nearly only] in concert bands, for curious clarinetists. I couldn't understand your question, Diz, from the pic. ?Key missing? Don

And G'day to you too diz. Unless it is a flare from the picture it looks like the standard key structure for an Eb Alto (or Bass). Five keys, one extra for the pinky (Pointer finger?) "on yah! cobber.

It definitely has the low Eb, which is a plus. Vibesvixen (why do people come up with names like that?) has bid $12.50 for it so far, so it has a ways to go before it reaches the bidder's universe.

I wrote the seller:

"Your Vito alto clarinet looks very nice, and I am a great fan of the alto, but I can buy a new Vito for under a $1,000, not $5,500 as your description suggests."

He replied:

"Like I said, I am not a clarinet expert. I am only taking the information that was given to me by a 'expert'. Because I made a very good deal on this instrument, I have set the reserve low.
Anyway, thanks for looking!"

Now we know!
