 Benvenuto Cellini overture – Berlioz
Author: gavin

Help! I just got our schedule for our next community orchestra's concert and the first rehearsal is tonight - I'm riding there (on push bike) straight from work. Has anyone got any comments on this piece? I seem to have a dim recollection from the past that is a)fast and b)written for C clarinet? I'm not sure about my recollection, but any pointers would be welcome. I need to know whether I should:-
start panicking;
calm down; or
be delighted.

Actually, I'm super delighted at the main work on the programme - Pines of Rome!

I remember it being written for c clarinet for benvenuto cellini. Just practice because it fast and has lots of notes. I tried to play it in my orch excerpts class in front of Giggliotti two years ago. Very interesting to say the least. I knew that transpotion is hard. good luck
