I was wondering if anyone has any info on Lelandais mouthpieces? In particular a "Number 6" (facing perhaps?) I have seen one for sale recently and am interested in finding out about them

If it has "Qualitie Superiore" along the right side of the table, it is a post-war chedeville blank (late 50's-70's). These blanks can be quite good, but rarely work well with original facings. They're somewhat overlooked, but they have excellent potential, if you can get it for a decent price. With the market as soft as it is for vintage pieces, you should be able to get one for $50-100. Just make sure there aren't any serious chips along the rails or scratches to the baffle and plan on having it refaced by someone to have it be at its potential.

NBeaty is correct! The old ones are very nice. Often used by the Kaspar's. Sadly the new ones are kind of not so good in today's standards. The Cicero and some of the Chicago Kaspar mouthpieces were/are Chedeville mouthpieces changed by the Kaspar's. Some of the changes were very thin rails and deeper baffle and chambers. Often the bores were larger as well. Also the old ones were often not marked. But someone with a very good eye and lots of experience may be able to spot one by its shape and measuring tools. I guess back then no one realized that these would be perhaps the best mouthpieces ever made. I think they were at the time.
A fact - Stanley Drucker uses one, which is a Chedeville although made by Lelandais. The same mouthpiece for years and years. He never changed mouthpieces as far as I know throughout his amazing career.
So many of the past great performers and even current players still use Kaspar mouthpieces and Chedeville mouthpieces. You can't beat that special ring and ping. Thus the reason why I made a mold from a Marcellus and Gennusa mouthpiece. I had to keep this special sound going for the future years, even after I'm long gone the mouthpieces will be available.
