I spy a Vibra-Cane reed on the mouthpiece. (Is that what they were called? It's been so long ago I've forgotten. I bought a few of them back in the 60s; nothing special as I remember.) Mentioning it because it's possible the reed has been clamped on the mouthpiece undisturbed for 60 years).
Other than that, someone more knowledgeable than I is going to have to weigh in.

Langwill has very little about this name except that it dates to the 1900's, with a mention in advertising in 1952. "A name of distinction for more than 50 years."It doesn't associate it with any type of instrument, leaving me to think that it may be a trade name or a stencil labelled by a music shop.

The author indicates that it's likely that instrumetns with this name are all "stencil" horns are made by Thibouville (who purchased the famous historical maker, Martin Frères, in the late 1800's) and manufactured instruments under numberouse "stencil" names. These instruments are probably from 1940-1960, but it's hard to tell without serial numbers.

So “Paul Dupree” is the stencil, which was stamped on the horn just to sell it with some distinguishing name? But it was made by Thibouville or Martin Freres. Where would I find the serial number? And what is the significance of the L 19 I found?

L19 is a factory number.

Thanks Chris. Do we know what factory L19 corresponds to? Anywhere else I should look for markings on the clarinet?
Oh and yes, likely the reed has been there untouched for at least 40 years.

I have also two Paul Dupre Conservatoire Bb clarinets. Both are metal but one is missing a key. The other is restored and plays very well. I am fairly certain that these were made by Thibouville in the late 1920s or early 1930s. One of them has "F13" under one key touch. The other has no such marking. I don't know what to make of that mark but I don't think it was intended to be a serial number or name a particular factory.

Some of these were supplied with Chedeville mouthpieces. I have one. A picture would help. The mouthpiece alone is easily worth $600 if it is a Ched.
