 Don Berger
Author: Dan Oberlin 2017

Some of you will who have frequented this board for while will remember Don Berger. I learned from one of Don's sons that Don passed away on January 7 due to a stroke and complications, but after "94 good years". Don worked as a chemist for Philips Petroleum in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He loved playing his clarinets (and other woodwinds) as a participant in community groups in Bartlesville and, after his retirement, in Tulsa. Don was an intelligent and generous guy with a nice sense of humor. May he rest in peace.

That is very sad news. He was the top man when it came to discussions about patents concerning all manner of keywork mechanisms.

Sad news indeed. Reading Don't posts always made me feel like I was sitting with him at "the old cracker barrel" and trading stories. I would appreciate being able to read Don't obit.

I happened to come across Don Berger's obituary today in the Bartlesville Exam. At least 10+ years ago, when my daughter was in high school, we purchased a clarinet locally (I think it was a LeBlanc L7.) I asked some questions on this bulletin board- I think it might have been related to the instrument's mouthpiece or barrel, got connected with Mr. Berger, and was very surprised to discover that we lived in the same town. He very generously looked over her instrument, and gave us some help and advice about it. A few years later, that instrument was stolen, and once my daughter graduated from high school, she didn't play anymore, so I haven't been on here for quite a while.

Here is a copy of the obituary which I found at:

Don will be sorely missed here on this BBoard and, I'm sure, in the rest of his life.

Prayers and blessings for him and for his whole family.

For some strange reason, I missed this posting on Don Berger's death. But I was thinking about him today for some reason and did a Google Search and found his obituary. Needless to say, I came to this BB and found that Dan Oberlin has shared this sad passing early last year.

I have some emails in my collection from Don when he was in the retirement home. His computer ability, he said, had slowed down but asked that I share some thought with others here which I did in 2011.

Here is the link to that post.

Don was a real treasure; I only wish we could see his byline one more time.

Cheers,

HRL
