 Manhattan Metal Clarinet

Ok, so I just bought this online, and it's surprisingly in great condition, however, a few minor things have gone wrong with it.

Things I've noticed have been:
Oil, or some wet residue, on the body
Missing 4 pads
Some keys need realignment
Pads are worn

What tech said:
"I will not work on it unless I'm replacing the pads, and that will be at least 250."

So, my question is, does anyone know where I can get this done in NC for cheap, or if i can buy the parts from a third party or instrument maker and save some money?

Oh, and some do's and don'ts for metal clarinets would also be very helpful, as all I know is my mellophone days of "Silver=shiny=polish"

It really is a beautiful instrument, and after about 10 minutes of taking it apart and 1-2 hours thoroughly cleaning it, I'd love to hear it play.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a Manhattan clarinet which I bought several years ago on *Bay for very little. I repadded and polished it, which is all it needed. I believe they were made by Conn. Mine plays and tunes surprisingly well, and I use it for outdoor jazz gigs.
