 Vandoren Juno clarinet reeds
Author: GBK
Date:   2015-09-14 07:43

A few years ago, Vandoren introduced the Juno clarinet reed - an affordable quality reed marketed for students. They were offered in strengths 2, 2 1/2, and 3.

They were actually quite well made and designed to produce a free blowing, yet substantial tone.

However, these reeds seem to have disappeared in the U.S.

I was given a large supply of free samples for my students when they first came out, but after two years I have only a few left.

Has anyone found a source to purchase Juno reeds? Or, worse yet, have they been discontinued?

Same here...I actually had a bunch of them in 1-1/2 strength as well that worked really well for absolute beginners.

Back to recommending Rico Mitchell Lurie 2.

My sort-of-local store, Marshall Music in Traverse City, Michigan had an ample supply of them on display the last time I was there in June. Cards of 3 and boxes of 10 were available.

Seems to me that 56 Rue Lepic would be a great option for beginners if only they were available in strengths below 2,5.

They're still sold at the one store where I teach.

Here's a list of vendors on their own website:

Here's a link to a list of U.S. dealers of Juno reeds. I got a link to junoreeds.com from the Vandoren website. They've spun off a separate domain for Junos but it says on the VD that they're made by Vandoren.

There are links on this page for dealers in other countries as well.
