 Reed Brand Intermediate

Am using cheapest Rico basic 2 strength reeds. Michelle Anderson youtube video #33 recommended going from cheapest to an intemediate reed for better sound and ease. Recommended Mitchell Lurie in a half strength more.
I saw some for 10.99 called Premium and another for 20.99 without a classification. Frome the video I would think the more expensive would be the one intended.
Anyone used these reeds, compared to others, and would suggest one or the other as upgrade from cheapest Rico. I am using a 2, 2.5, and 3 now, but like the 2 so was considering the 20.99 10pack in a 2.5 because it said the Mitchell is softer. Any recommendations? I am having trouble with WWBW and Musicians friend website "not responding" today so I thought I would ask before oredering anything. Thanks.

The premiums are better in my experience but they are sold in packs of 5 not 10. Though I now use vandorens, I did like the Mitchell luries when I played on them. I rarely got less than 4 good reeds out of a box of 5. Be careful though as they tend to run on the soft aide, and are a fairly vibrant reed to begin with. Check out some reed strength charts to see what the comparison point is

I just didnt know if the ones that said premium were the better reed or the ones that said nothing. So you are saying regardless of how many in a pack I should get the ones that say premium if I want the better of the two? just want to make sure I understand. Because they are softer the recommendation was to increase half a strength which would be 2.5 from my usual 2. Thanks.

In my experience, Mitchell Lurie reeds run a trifle harder than a basic Rico in any given strength number. It is not a very big difference--just enough to be noticeable.

You might want to try basic Rico, Mitchell Lurie, and Michell Lurie Premium in strength 2.5, and find out which works best for you.

The basic Rico reeds being made now are much better than the mediocre-to-awful Rico reeds of years gone by. If they work the best for you, there is no need to "upgrade".

I use a computer webcam to record videos of my playing and I find the sound on videos seems different than what I hear while playing. Videos seem better sound for some reason. Clarinet is a standard Bb made in Germany Buffet E11 with a Rovner ligature but otherwise as it came.

find a good private teacher, and quit using cheap , soft reeds.
'intermediate' reed? what is that?

Try a Fobes Debut mouthpiece, with the Rovner ligature, and Vandoren blue box #3's. And find a good teacher to help you get started out right.

Listening to recordings of yourself will always sound different because you aren't hearing any of the vibrations transmitted through the jaw bone while you are playing. In this regard it is almost impossible to know what you truly sound like.

I agree with the above advice, a private teacher will be immensely helpful if you wish to seriously study the clarinet, and will be able to diagnose and fix problems that crop up way better.
