Hi all,
i would like buy a professional clarinet, like buffet or patricola, that i'm in italy, for me is easy go to try patricola, but i don't know what can buy, i want a really good clarinet and i want use it for the rest of my life, i have already a ebany clarinet, but some time doesn't work or it haven't a good sound that buffet o other clarinet have.
Please, help me.

Patricola is a decent made horn. I tried the Rosewood model some years ago and found it had a lovely sound but is seemed a little "light." I couldn't get the same amount of power out of it as I could with the Buffet.
If it is between those two and you have the opportunity to try a number of different Buffets (same model), I'd go with the Buffet.

I had a great deal of trouble with intonation on a Patricola rosewood C clarinet I bought several years ago. You might not have the same problems with a Bb clarinet, and you're closer than I was to the maker if adjustments are needed. You're also probably using a mouthpiece that is more like what the clarinet is designed for, since you live and play in the same area of the world as Patricola. Their clarinet does have some very nice design features - especially a linkage system for the throat Bb than opens the side tone-hole and closes the register tube when you play Bb with the normal (A key + register key) fingering, which produces a much better Bb. I like the sound of my C Patricola clarinet. I have had problems recently with the rosewood changing dimensions in the cold weather here (in the Philadelphia U.S.A. area) that resulted in some binding keys. That probably wouldn't happen to an instrument that's being played more than my Patricola is (I have another C that I use more).
Keep in mind that no clarinet needs to be "for the rest of my life." Players' ideas change, they want different things from a clarinet than they did when they were younger, and they replace older instruments with new ones all the time. No decision you make needs to be for all time. If the instrument you buy now isn't what you want in ten years, you can always sell the one and buy another. They don't cost nearly what a good violin or even a good flute, oboe or bassoon costs.

David, I have tried many Buffets and Patricolas (and several other brands as well) but I don't see the point in your post. What quality do you mean exactly? Sound, response is subjective to some extent, but the wood and the keywork are objectively good quality, not amateur. Besides, I think the sound and response are well balanced too. Of course there are inferior ones among the Patricolas too, but I have tried (new!) Buffet clarinets that I wouldn't even use as a doorstop. Not to speak about how many top of the line Buffet cracks these days. So in my opinion both brands have strengths and weaknesses. However, I would at least hesitate to call Particolas 'amateur'.

nowdays is very difficoulty, especialy here, sell instrument, i tried to sell my first clarinet for 100€ tractable, is a 1 month i attend someone answer me, nothing send me a propose, you could post a adv that you sell patricola o professional clarinet but if people aren't interessed, you attend, and it's hard sell the instrument at the same price you bought you're forced to make it less or even give it away, probabilty, depend of the country, in italy the situation is orrible, hard to buy, hard to sell...

I disagree with David in the strongest respectful terms to him noting Patricola's horns as "amateur." As a Buffet dealer who also has substantial experience with Patricola's products I can say without a doubt that the build quality of recent Patricolas is at par, at the very least, with Buffet/Selmer or any other factory-made clarinet. Perhaps they have been poorly made in the past, but I certainly wasn't around for it. HOWEVER, they can tune really strangely. I've played Patricola Ebs that are absolutely incredible and some that spread all over the place. The Bbs and As are more consistent. One thing about Patricola is that they are always tweaking their fundamental design so a 2008 Cl2 plays differently than a 2014 Cl2. The last batch I played (their Virtuoso Bbs) had a smaller shape of sound than an R13 and had a certain warmth to it. Rosewood ones have an even smaller shape of sound. It's hard to just compare a Patricola to a Buffet, but I would describe them as a love baby between the RC and the Festival (for what little that may help).

I've tried a few dozen Patricola clarinets.
I've tried them for the first time about ten years ago. They had enough issues that I wouldn't even consider one. When I say "consider" I mean as a replacement if something happened to my clarinet.
I've tried them again a few years ago and it was completely different. I would absolutely consider one if I had to replace my clarinet. The improvement was huge. Most issues were gone.
