Rovner Platimum 1R vs Vandoren Optimum

I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on either or both of these ligs as they look similar, I was wondering how they affect your playing.
Thanks.

I can't say I've tried the Vandorn but the only way you will know what works for you is to try them. What's better for one person is not better for someone else so it really doesn't matter what other people say.

No experience with the Rovner Platinum 1R. However, I just received my Optimum in the mail a couple of days ago, and I really like it. When I tried my teacher's Optimum a while back (she plays on an Optimum professionally, though I think maybe she just switched to a Wood Stone?), she and I liked the sound much more than sound of the Rovner Versa X I had been using previously, so she recommended that I purchase one. I find that the Optimum with the standard plate makes the sound clearer and gives it a little bit of a "ping" - it's not a brighter sound, just more clear and projecting, unlike the Versa X which I found to muffle my sound. I have yet to try the other two plates since I can't seem to pop the standard plate out of place at the moment - the one downside so far - but my teacher recommends the standard plate for classical playing anyways.
As Ed said, it's probably best to try them for yourself - the Optimum works great for me, but it may or may not be so great for you.

Ive never noticed a huge difference in terms of sound with any ligature however i have played both the Optimum and the Platinum. I definitely liked the optimum more. It was much easier to put on and after it broke in, it really molded well to the shape of the reed. The platinum never wanted to secure the reed quite how i like it. All of this said, I now play on a Versa and have yet to notice a lack of projection by comparison
