 New clarinet mouthpiece

Referring to Vandoren, it is probably just my view (hopefully not), that there is a certain gap in the mouthpiece chart, according to tip opening/facing. There are certain combinations, varying in these parametres relation. However, there isn't one that fills in the gap in between the 1.10-1.20mm tip and a MediumLong facing. The closest in both ends are: BD5 (1.13mm/M facing) and B40 (1,19mm/ML). Both are excellent mpcs. I play the B40, very nice mouthpiece, a little too open for me, and a little brighter and rougher. Never played the BD5, from what I've read and heard, a pefect mpc., but with a little more coveredness and resistence than needed.
So, my presumption and proposal is a new mouthpiece: 1,15mm tip/wide rail/deep chamber/ML facing.
I already wrote to Vandoren, still no answer. Hope that more people embrace the idea, and maybe a new mouthpiece emerges.
Regards!

I think if you try a few BD5 and B40 mouthpieces, you may find one that fills the gap. Vandorens are made fairly consistently but they do vary a little.

Otherwise, a refacer could handle your custom request probably easier than Vandoren could.

It is easy to get lost in the numbers. If you haven't already I HIGHLY recommend going to Brad Behn's website where he has an excellent primer on the issue.

You ask for what appears to me to be a relatively open mouthpiece, with a 'longer' lay, AND a deep chamber. One thing to keep in mind is that the deeper chamber will prevent the reed from moving as efficiently (less back pressure or slap back) so the mouthpiece becomes even more resistant.

Just things to consider.

Yes, these are options. Thanks! I had similar thoughts. But maybe it is also a good idea if there was already one like this. Cheers!

Maybe try getting someone to either close up a B40 with a slightly shorter facing or open up a BD5? The latter may be a better option, although I really, really like the BD5. Those who know me would know that my personal record of use is with this mouthpiece and that's saying something!
