Hello,
I am trying to identify the model names/numbers of these two Leblanc instruments based on their serial numbers .
186xx (Bb) and 186xx (A)
I understand that they were purchased new in 1984
Based on photos they have lower Eb keys and an extra key at the top of the lower joint. The top lower tenon has a hole corresponding to pad on the lower joint.
The Leblanc lists for these number suggest a whole slew of models so they can't help in the identification process.

I assume these are French made Leblancs - if so then based on serial nos they would date from around the mid 1960s not 80s.
(My pair nos 14xxx were bought new in early 1961).
Sounds like they are full Boehm system in which case I think they must invariably be the LL model since Leblanc only offered the extra key options on this range.
In early 60s they did not put the LL designation on this model though fairly soon after you would find the logo "LL" on the top joint.

Do you think that a well used instrument of this vintage be an asset or a
liability?

Well Peter as with everything it does depend on condition - however
1. Leblanc clarinets are in my view the finest constructed instruments from any manufacturer and were particularly good at this vintage. So unless thoroughly abused should have many years left in them.
2. the A model will typically have had much less use than the Bb so could/should be in almost pristine condition even after this time.
3. I have been a big fan of Leblanc for 50 years so may just be biased but I think they are really fine and very under-rated instruments
ps. I should have clarified I am talking about the original Leblanc French made clarinets i.e pre Opus/Concerto

I have inherited a Leblanc Paris clarinet which to my untrained eye seems in excellent condition. It has no model name on any part but the serial number 43154, which if my research is right places it as a 1976 LL model. I know nothing about clarinets and would appreciate any guidance as to its value as I want to sell it. To my knowledge its previous owner never played it in the last 10 years.
Any advice much appreciated.

Condition is everything when determining value. In playable condition the LL model seems to usually sell for $600-$800 on the auction sites. If it needs an overhaul to be playable then the value is probably half of that. I suggest taking it to a music shop (preferably one that has a woodwind repair technician) and having it checked out before trying to sell it.
