 Climate controlled clarinet case?

This may sound like a silly question but is there a such thing as a clarinet case or any woodwind case that is climate controlled?

Do not know of one - a hygrometer, desiccants and water vapor dispensing devices, and anti-tarnish materials are about as close as it gets. I put a large "O" ring seal around the case cover halves to keep the outside environment at bay while the clarinet is resting.

Insulated case cover helps keep rapid changes from happening. That and the other things that Doc H mentioned.

Having a steady climate in the room that you store the instrument helps too.

And don't EVER transport a clarinet in the trunk of a car.

I think the most important part of climate for a clarinet is not to have rapid swings in temperature, and not to put the clarinet where it will get EXCESSIVELY hot or cold. So no trunks of the car EVER for me.

I’ll tell you what we all do in the BSO during the winter when the air inside and out is dry. We all use Dampits in our cases and keep the cases closed as much as possible. There really is no reason to do it in the summer unless you live in a dry climate or keep the A/C so low that it dries out the air, not highly recommend. Of course you have to keep the Dampit wet. I suggest a larger one for a double case, the one they sell for a cello or bassoon, bass clarinet. It helps too to have a case cover or have your instruments in a canvas carrying bag to help keep the moisture in the case. ESP www.peabody.jhu.edu/457
