 Help ID'ing this Clarinet?

Hello All-

I dug out my old clarinet in hopes of figuring out its lineage, history, etc.

The only markings I can find on the bell are:

Pan-American
div. C.G. Conn, LTD
U.S.A.

And a serial number on the lower barrel piece also:126980

This is in a tiny case, (looks to be student type?)
To me this looks 40's-50's but someone else told me it could be older.
Is in really good shape, but needs pads and maybe a new cork section.

Anyone that can offer where I can research this better online, I would greatly appreciate it!

Pan-American was the bottom-of-the-line student instrument from Conn. They were pretty popular from (I think) the 30s to maybe the 50s when they seem to have disappeared. They are not great instruments.

Hi EEG - How about a little more description of your PA/Conn, please. Is it metal, or plastic, wood? perhaps. Is it "single-bodied" or 2 pieces [with keys]? I had an old Conn in the key of C [shorter than the usual Bb], single-bodied, hard rubber, quite a good player, might be able to re-find its ser #, was from the 1920's.. Interesting, Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

Thanks for the replies folks. This looks to be a Bb clarinet, 4 main pieces (not including mouthpiece) and is some type of ugly black plastic (Resonite?)

What's even weirder is that the Bell (with the markings) is not the same type of plastic material? This material has an almost satin look and feel to it. Very ugly, to say the least. I've seen a CG Conn/Pan-American Propellor wood model. This one is not as pretty I'm afraid. I'm pretty sure this is fairly old, as my father played it as a youth and then I did some 32 years ago. ; )
