 David Hite bass clarinet Mouthpiece
Author: Library Geek

Anyone using a David Hite bass clarinet mouthpiece? I've read good things about his soprano Bb mouthpiece, and I was wondering about the quality of the bass clarinet mouthpiece.

Right now I'm using a George M. Bundy 3, which my local repairman gave me a deal on when I first got my bass in January and he made some adjustments. My ligature is a Rovner Dark. Reed is Fibercell med-soft.

I'm on a bit of a budget--I'd like to spend no more than around $100 (that's low, I know). I have an old plastic Bundy bass clarinet going down to low Eb.

Is the George M. Bundy 3 a plastic mouthpiece (I don't know how old the one I have is)?

Thanks,
Ann

The george Bundy #3 is actually hard rubber. If you are not happy with it as is, it makes a good blank to be refaced if you can find a good mpc craftsman.

The Hite is good but I would not say spectacular.

Just tried a crystal Pomarico the other day that was actually very good, but I think it is a little more than $100.

I have never tried the Hite. I currently play on a garrett and like it alot. He lists his bass mouthpieces at 95.00

I second the suggestion regarding the Roger Garrett mouthpiece. A great mouthpiece for a great price!

The Pomarico, as it turns out, is the "Jazz *" which seemed great for classical if you ask me. The down side for you is that it is $148 from Woodwind Brasswind (this is a heavily discounted price too).

i hite bass mpc is a good buy for the money and plays very good but is a notch below the premium boutique offerings. however it does preform better in the altisimo than any other i have played. notes are better voiced and in tune . i also discovered the ligature that comes with the mpc is a pattented hite desighn and offers crisper low note articulation for me than any of my other ligs. {all high end models} this mpc is tough to beat for the price
