My Festival (circa 1994 production year model) has an adjustable TR on it, screw and slide model. Tried a couple of slightly different positions and came back to the factory setting. Seemed to be okay right there for me (95th percentile size hands/fingers, a.k.a. "very average"). Saw that the screw started to weaken some a few days later, sliding entire horn on the TR slide to the stop. Took it back to the repair shop to "size" the TR setting for me (again, very close to factory location) and have the screw gently torqued to stay there. Never messed with it since. Now, the factory furnished lamb's wool pad is starting to slide around on what little glue is left. Eventually will have to reglue this back in place. Don't see this as a significant event when it happens.
Lessons learned include:
1. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Don't even adjust it.
2. Adjustable TRs (IMHO) are nice, but once it works out for your hands, leave them alone.
3. Torque and glue the screw if you must to keep it in its place.
