hmmmm.....

I went through the same thing, col.
The things I realized about articulation in the following year were lasting. The greatest advantage to tip to tip style is that your tounge stays poised, narrowing the the airstream and allowing for you to voice the different ranges better. This led me to the idea of and emphasis on AIR STREAM as opposed to tounge muscle. So when you work on your articulation, i would stay with one note at a time and play 8ths or 16ths with a metronome whatever speed. Don't think about your tounge (if possible!) - just let it go. Focus on an air stream that doesn't back off. The result is a feeling of the tounge only dampeniong the vibration of the reed while the air continues. The tounge just interupts the vibration but not the flow of air.
I would do this on single notes at a time before introducing scales. This was the first thing I learned with my college teacher, and I remember how excited I was when I felt the air and the sound click into place- I went and called my mom!
Good luck!
