 barrel length

i aquired a boosey and hawkes clarinet barrel, wood, that is by my best conversion approx. 60.5 mm. it is brown with a red hue, you might say. b flat barrels are usually 66 to 67mm, i believe. this barrel was in the case of a b flat clarinet. any ideas of what or possibly why?
