In my opinion, the reason that Frank Kaspar of Chicago and Cicero (not Ann Arbor) made more consistently superior mouthpieces is because he was a superior artist/craftsman. They both turned mouthpieces from the same rod material, later on used somewhat different blanks but applied their craft differently to fit their clientele.
