Any professional clarinetists have any advice about getting back into shape after not practicing for a few months? any good warm-up routines or whatever for a doctorate student? and if any of my students are reading this...i'm asking for a friend yeah, really!

I can speak from personal experience, as I have had some long breaks. Things will come back quicker than you expect, and regardless of what music you play. The only essential thing is to practice every day, quit for the day when you get tired, and build up endurance at your body's own pace.
After a layoff, I start with the first set of etudes in Part 2 of the Lazarus method. They are good music, and I enjoy playing them. I then work my way through all the way to the end of Part 3.
I think it's very important to resume making music from the very first note. You can leave the scales and other strong medicine for later. Doing what gives you pleasure will keep you coming back.
Good luck.
