How old is the horn you're talking about? I have an old Conn Oboe from the early 30s that has the old Conn brass insert in the bell. Nowhere on it does it say Made in France, but suspected it was as the heavier stamped numbers are in an old font commonly used in Europe. There are also added numbers at the end that are in an american style and slightly smaller. None of the oboe players around here have ever seen keywork quite like it either. Then a friend found one on eBay that was just exactly like it. Same keys and case. It was made by Henry Farney (sp) in France. If ita an older horn, I think it may have been a stencil from this company.
