Fellow clarinetists...
I just saw Chris Jepperson's ad in the sneezy classifieds for his custom made barrels...and wanted to re-visit my post regarding these exceptional additons to your set up. I got one and am thoroughly satisfied with it's performance. The grenadilla wood Chris uses is flawless and the barrel's sound is awesome.
I encourage all of you to give them a try. And no...I'm not working on commission.

Sorry I can't. Never played on a Moennig or Chadash, but can tell you the JEPP is wonderful. A dark sound...very focused but full and rich. They also are totally wooden with no metal rings top or bottom. Sort of strange looking but perform very well.

John, there is no question from the photos that these hand-made barrels look/are beautiful. Not knowing anymore, I think the only think I would be concerned about is warping/changing of the Bore. Greg Smith has spoken a bit about this on his wooden mouthpieces, wherein he says he uses wood which has been aged at least 30 years. Have you confirmed age on these Barrels? Also, how do they tune for bottom to top?
