 R-13 greenline vs Festival Greenline
Author: David Kinder

Although I'm not too partial to greenlines myself, I was wondering if anyone has played on a Festival Greenline? If so, do you feel that it is worth the extra $$ over the standard greenline?

I'm just curious. I like the idea of an outdoor instrument, while having the main features of the Festival.

Just wondering what you find to be different about the Greenlines.

You might want to search the BBoard. We've had many a discussion about R13s and Festivals - the Greenlines are identical to the regulkar wood ones in every way except body material.

I understand Ricardo Morales is using a greenline Festival and really likes it.

I have the standard wood Festival and a greenline R-13. I love the sound of the greenline. Mine is very responsive. But, yes, the key set-up and feel of the Festival is better. I couldn't find a greenline Festival at the time I got the R-13.

If you check the B & H web site and look for what their featured artists are playing you'll see that quite a number of them is playing the GL festival.

Granted, you have to trust the information B&H provides and also know that the artists instruments are probably tweaked to their very personal likings.
The fact remains that I've only heard good things about the festival GL.

I spoke to Ricardo at length at the Clainetfest, and he told me his equipment now is Selmer Signature clarinets (A and Bb) with no customizing at all, a Pyne/Clarion mouthpiece, BG super Revelation ligature, and Grand Concert Evolution Thick Blank #31/2 reeds. His C clarinet is a Leblanc. He told me about his reed break-in process, but I'll save that for another time.

I can't afford to follow Ricardo anymore.
