take a look at this bass clarinet's support system:

This "stand bar" is the kind of support that I've been seeking for supporting the bass clarinet. I did a quick search on the net and got no results. (Maybe I haven't hit upon the right combination of words yet) and did a quick search on the Leblanc site with no luck. Do y'all know if this stand bar is still made and sold? By whom? TIA

The stand kinda looks like the one that saxophone players use. I have no clue who would make it, but maybe a search for different instrument stands will help.

That alto sax stand looks dangerously unstable for holding that bass clarinet.
I would suggest making a nice stand which cradles the horn a bit higher up so the whole set up doesn't go crashing into your music stand, the second flute player's head or the floor. If you don't have the skills for that then go to the high school's wood shop and hire a kid to make you one, you might meet some nice new friends while you are at it!
The basoon player in our orchestra made a simple wooden folding stand out of maple and hardware store pieces about 30 years ago and it still works fine, you can too.

I think Koenig and Meyer makes one. Here is their web site address, but since I don't know the language it doens't help me much. Perhaps you can find out their US distributor. I know they have one because I bought a music stand from them at the Texas Bandmasters' Association convention in San Antonio in July.

BW and WW sells the Koenig and Meyer bass clarinet/bassoon stand. I have one sitting in my room as I type. It's and great stand, just not terribly small. I'd rather lug it around then have my instrument fall, though.

I, too, have been looking for a stand/standbar. I have searched the web and found no other than the K&M already mentioned. Sometime back Walter Grabner mentioned he had made his own and I asked him about it. He said (and I don't think this is a secret so I shall share it) that he is redoing his Web page and when finished will list the stand. I think he said it would sell for around $100. That is in the same market price as the K&M. I wait with interest.

Can the K&M bassoon/bass clari stand be adjusted for different heights? Gosh I've sat in chairs where my knees feel like their in my face and with other chairs only the tip of my toes touch the floor, so I'm looking for a stand that reflect the different heights of chairs. TIA

Beth,
I would not use this type of stand to support your bass clarinet. You should have a stand that not only supports the bell/peg area of the clarinet, but also a post with a support for the top of the clarinet. The base of the stand should be large enough to create a solid platform for the support of the clarinet.
Bass clarinets are expensive and if they tip over...(a likely event, if you use a stand a pictured in the ebay ad) you will probably be sending your instrument to the shop for repairs.

I had a bass clarinet balanced in an alto sax stand...with nasty results (broken mouthpiece!). It's not a good idea. Currently I use a stand which was made by the guy who previously owned the instrument - it's as solid as anything but rather large. A bassoon stand should do the trick nicely - I think that's what my teacher uses.
