Ok, I was wondering what the difference in a Buffet RC Clarinet and a Buffet R-13 Clarinet is. Is one considered better than the other? Is it just a personal Preference? Would a R-13 be preferred over a RC? things like that....I would appreciate any imput I can get...thanks

In general, the R13 is the preferred Buffet in the Americas, and the RC preferred in Europe and Asia. The bore characteristics of the two are different.
If I remember right, the RC is significantly more expensive (in the US at least) than the R13. Again, no one should equate price with "the best" of anything. A Lamborghini Diablo is not the best car for Michigan (potholes and winter).

In the UK the RC is popular but the R13 is more so,yes the bore is bifferent but both I believe were designed by Robert Carree. They usually sell for the same price over here as do the respective Greenline versions of each. There is still a lot of bias towards Buffet here in the UK and many specialist woodwind stores report selling many Buffets for each Leblanc,Yamaha or Selmer sold and teachers hardly ever recommend anything but Buffets,(this is my experience.)

Hi,
The main difference between the RC and the R13 is the shape of the bore.
The R13 is a polycylindrical bore all the way where as the RC is polycylindrical on the upper joint conical in the lower joint.
Both are equally good instruments, it's a matter of personal preferences in the way they sound.
