Even as a beginner you can really answer this questions for yourself. If it's the intonation (pitch) that worries you, use a phone tuner app (or a dedicated tuner if you have one) and check your pitch with the mouthpiece in as far as it will go.
Did the clarinet have a mouthpiece with it? Or is the 5JB your only mouthpiece?
