back in jr high my school had a battered conn wooden alto with made in france. on it. no one played it and i was allowed to take it home a play around with it. i fell in love with its unique sound -lush and woody down low and like a sax up high. now at age 65 i am finally playing alto clarinet in ComUnity band and have a malerne but hard rubber not wood.
