The scratch on the model number is definitely accidental damage.

What appear to be scratches on the lower joint are the natural vessels in the wood and of no real cause of alarm.

Funny how Schreiber have the sense to relocate the thumbrest baseplate higher up the lower joint to offer better adjustment both up and down, when Buffet bung them on in the same place as the fixed thumbrests which doesn't suit everyone.
