I don't know about reinforcement. I just trust that it is one of the tradeoffs using the Greenline material (more compressive strength, less tensile strength..........more like glass).

So I did invest in heavier, more secure stands for rehearsals (you never know when someone with bump into your horn walking by).

One other thing most folks won't have to worry about is EXTREME heat. I had the occasion to see what happened to a Geenline that was laying out on a metal chair in the middle of Iraq in the hot sun (let's just say about 130 degrees Fahrenheit). It bent down around the thumbrest so that when you look down the horn now, it curves down and to the left. Still it was one of the best playing horns we had in our band.
