I had one, I inherited it from my first teacher, who brought it with him when he emigrated to the U.S. in 1953. He had served over 20 years in regimental bands of the British Army. Rudall Carte supplied instruments to the Army, and he likely was issued the instrument when he was Solo Clarinet of the Life Guards Band. I don't have need of an A clarinet, so I sold it to a restorer as is. And it had not had any maintenance for many years and was not stored in an optimal environment. I sold it for $300 and it restored beautifully and, according to its new owner, is a beautiful player. He is seeking to resell it for around $1000.
