They must have been high-end instruments in their era. The bore is small but the sound is remarkable large with a good resonance when pushed harder. A sort of combination of French and German sound. That's why they remind me of clarinets of Jacques Albert Fils I have owned: http://www.clarinetsdirect.biz/JAFilsPair-Schimmel.html

However these could only be played in tune with a special barrel. The Dolnets tune better. I cannot measure bores but the barrels seem to have a reversed taper. Some keys have a black dot inlay, nice workmanship. Btw, the Jacques Albert Fils clarinets have the same dots. Maybe Dolnet had these clarinets made by Jacques Albert Fils? Just an idea...

Unfortunately I broke the c# key, the metal cannot be bend...
