Hi Jdbassplayer,
Hi Tony F.,
I did smooth it a little using 500 sandpaper wrapped over my finger...

However, I just took another (older) B45 and it fitted in just fine.
Vandoren must have changed the shoulder size slightly- 1st B45 I bought about 3 years ago, the 2nd one is 38 y. old.
So I was able to try the Evette today.
While it does not compare to my R13P, it sounds better than plastic Artley and Bundy clarinets.
Not resistant and has at least some warmth in its tone.
Evette in a good condition (like mine), should make a solid instrument for a beginner student. Its keys are made very well too, fit is tight but keys do not bind, all the screws are solid fit.
Would not play in Carnegie Hall but for a school band it is a very good start.
